Let me start off by saying I don't understand the Cowboys identity on offense, and I don't think they do either. There's no way a team with that many weapons on offense should only score 20 points twice so far this season.
Tony Romo remains a mystery as far as what type of season he'll have. After his debacle against the Bears a few weeks back, it looked like Romo could be poised for his worst season in the NFL, despite posting an above-average completion percentage. He still has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns, and probably should have had a better game against a mediocre to below-average Panthers defense -- who were missing their best defensive player in LB Jon Beason.
It didn't help Romo's cause that the running game got absolutely nothing going without DeMarco Murray. Murray has been averaging 4.4 yards per carry so far this season, and without him on Sunday the team could only muster 2.7 yards per carry with the platoon of Felix Jones and Phillip Tanner.
The defense remains stout, especially against the pass where they currently rank third in the NFL against the pass. The rushing defense is a respectable 16th in the league, but only managed to force one turnover against Carolina.
I think the most important thing to remember is that this happened against a 1-5 Carolina team. I think it is very conceivable Dallas could lose their next three games (home against the Giants and then on the road against Atlanta and Philly) and still have a difficult schedule for the remainder of the season.
Any statements saying that the Cowboys are back on track after playing a team that just had their Quarterback call out the coaching staff and had the General Manager fired after the game are premature. If the Cowboys can weather the next three games and avoid going 0-3, then we can revisit this discussion.

Im a Cowboys' fan but I am not a fan of Jason Garrett. I believe that a team takes on the personality of its head coach and unfortunately the Dallas Cowboys have taken the identity of Jason Garrett. There is no discipline on this team everything is happy go lucky run the wrong route thats ok jump off sides thats ok there is no reprimand for mental mistakes. The head coach doesnt get in anybody's face for stupid mental inexcusable mistakes and on top of that neither does the star players on this team. Jason Garrett is not a leader and it shows with the performance of this team. I agree with your statement too many weapons on this offense to be putting up such mediocre numbers.

As a Cowboys Fan, I totally agree with this blog. Where is the Garrett Play calling skills that once were top of the pack, when Phillips was in charge. Dallas is top 10 in Offensive Yardage in the NFL, but yet bottom of the tank in points. I seen it best when quoted Dallas is one hell of a between the 20's offense. With poor playcalling, bad clock management, and injuries, this team will be lucky to survive an 8-8 season.

Who exactly have the bought? Honestly this group of stars was all draft or free agent signings before they were anything on the offensive side of the ball. Not one guy was a stud before coming to Dallas.

This team will go nowhere until:
A) the offensive line plays better - including stupid penalties
B) the WRs start making plays - drops, fumbles, wrong route running
C) the defense creates turnovers
I also believe they have one of the more under appreciated QBs in the league. Anytime people complain about Romo I bring up the 10+ other QBs we had in rotation post-Aikman era; I'm sure many NFL teams would love to have a signal caller of Romo's calibre. This team has talent and a competitive division which can prepare them for tough playoff games. I just don't think they're playing smart football which is what is deciding these close games.
